I thought all 2004's came with CDL as standard. I just read it the other day somewhere.

I'm in the Middle East, so this isn't NAS. Something could have been swapped out at some point before I owned it – I bought it in 2008. It's also possible that someone took a VIN off a different truck and stuck it to mine, I guess, although that seems like a lot of trouble to go to to make a car look like it's one year younger. I'll check the door jamb next chance I get.

From what I've read, this isn't necessarily true. I've seen some videos/guides where people talk about 2004s not having CDL. There's one somewhere further up this thread.

Batard. question: is your transfer box really hard to shift when the car is running? I tried to shift from H to L earlier today while in neutral and it really took a hard push. Like, not smooth at all. It gave a clunking noise too. Does yours do this? Is this normal?
It's reasonably hard to shift, which could be normal especially if you don't use it much. I'm not sure about the clunking noise, but if it's not too loud it's probably fine.

Here is the badge. Says it's a 2004 model year, but was manufactured in October 2003.

Does this make it "actually" a 2003? I have to assume plenty of MY2004s were made in 2003.

I'm not sure whether it came from the factory this way or what, but there's what appears to be a blank where the CDL stuff should be. I put my hand on the transfer case just above where the front shaft connects and felt a smooth surface. I then reached around with my phone and saw the following: Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet

This seems to show a round blank where the CDL should be. Correct?
This is correct. Thats where it SHOULD be, and is not

Thank goodness we finally got this cleared up, nearly 5 years later.
