My H-N-L shifter has always only traveled forward and backward, but the decal in front of it shows the left-hand shift for CDL. I assumed because I have a 2004 it should have CDL, but that it must be stuck. I decided to get to the bottom of it today, and I believe I don't actually have CDL. I'm not sure whether it came from the factory this way or what, but there's what appears to be a blank where the CDL stuff should be. I put my hand on the transfer case just above where the front shaft connects and felt a smooth surface. This seems to show a round blank where the CDL should be. Correct?

 

I'm lost with your photo, I dont think you photographed the right area.

This shows it from above. You can see here the "diff lock spigot" right above where the front shaft meets the transfer case. That's what I tried to take a picture of, and it appears to be a circular blank on mine.

Where else should I be checking?

 

I also think I don't have it based on this video:
The shift **** doesn't have any diff lock indicator even though the sticker does. I'm thinking the internals aren't even in the transfer case because the "spigot" isn't there.

 

That may be the area where the interlock solenoid an neutral warning switch is located on some NAS & Japan models. Link to photo of boxes w/sans CDL.

Here is a pic for your reference. It does appear you do not have a diff lock spigot on the transfer case.

Your reference photos are obviously correct, I just didn't recognize the area you took a photo of.

Do you have slim roof rails or fat round ones? Slim being 03'
