If you go with a OM617 make sure you talk with DieselMeken AB and have him make you up a custom injection pump.

Can't see where turbo would help you any in the woods. Doubt you'll ever get the engine's legs stretched out enough to get the turbos spooled up in the woods. Diesel would be great in the woods where torque is KING!

You don't really need either though... I have a p38 with the 4.0 in it. I use it for rock crawling/woods exploration and in the LOW range gear selection the 4.0 has way more power than needed. All my buddies have tacomas that are jacked up with big tires and they just raw dog the hell of the little 4 cyl engines in them. Then I'm just over here easing around with my V8 barely pushing the gas. LOL!
