Default Mileage Indicator Counting Too Fast?

Is it possible for my trucks mileage indicator to be counting miles too fast or to be tracking in kilometers? Seems to be counting at double rate. Im going to do some experiments tommorow. I cant seem to find anything about this on the forum so I hope Im just being nuts.

Mileage indicator?
If you hold the trip odometer reset button in for more than 2 seconds your odometer will switch to KM, hold it in for 2 seconds and it will switch back to Miles.
Should be a little indicator next to the numbers that indicate miles or kilometers.

The indicator states miles and thats why I got concerned about the rate. I wont know for sure I guess until tommorow but Im pretty certain I havent driven near a thousand mile around town in the last two weeks. In fact I knowI havent Ive only filled the tank 1.5 times.
