Default Miles on dash blinking

I went to check out a 2000 disco 2 when I started the truck the miles on the dash were blinking, the truck has not had a battery for a few months.

Any idea what the blinking indicates ?

The mileage on the odometer differs from what is stored in the ECU...

I would be very careful with that, sounds like someone replaced the cluster now showing less mileage.
The only way to tell is to have the person selling the truck have the cluster reprogrammed with the ECU and see what mileage the ECU really has on it.

im yet to find anyone with a t4 that can reprogram a used cluster. if you get a cluster new it can be synced with the ECU. Not even the 2 local dealers were able to do it for me.

i had to replace mine because the moron before me had broke off the LED's of the 3 amigos.

as said before be careful because it was replaced for some reason...

The OD flashing means tell them "thanks but no thanks" and to keep looking.
The OD and the trucks computer do not match, so one of them has been replaced.
Either to cover a problem or one was replaced because it was defective.

yeah the dash was definately removed, it was loose and had some misc. screws holding it on. The right blinker doesnt work, seller said thats why he removed the dash.

The cel and three amigos are on, so unless he was trying to hide the mileage he didnt hide much. the miles read 140k which is on target with the carfax

he could have driven it one mile with the console not connected and the ecu wouldnt match and it would start blinking. make sure you know what you are getting yourself into, i would have the codes read for the CEL and the ABS codes read by an Amigo or other ABS reader because you have some work ahead of you if you decide to buy this thing and i hope you get it dirt cheap

Walk away. Unless it's dirt cheap.

does $1000 count as dirt cheap ? Originally I was thinking $1300 but the OD makes me want to go lower

Its got 140K on it, SE7 - rear suspension replaced with springs, engine is pretty quite though could use a tune up, heads were replaced 2 years ago.

The CEL codes are P01590, P0340, P0444. (there is a loose plug hanging on the side of the drivers side of the engine - under throttle body)

I couldnt find my Amigo at the time I went to check it out so dont know what those codes are.

The truck definitely looks like it was a project - the dash was loose, passenger side toe/knee kick board was missing, nice little dent in hood, the rear moon roof doesnt open, and the rear door doesnt open either.

The way I see it, any disco I get will eventually have issues, not really sure I want to get so involved, so I am thinking it may not be such a bad idea to learn on something like this which is cheap and runs - but has issues and if it comes down to it a can get rid of later - even at a bit of a loss

Right now I fix my own vehicles but they are volvos form the late 90's so its a different ball game

Fot $1000-1500 you can make money on it if there are any reasonable parts left in working order if you end up having to part it.

That's pretty much how I look at things like that. If I get into it and find it's a money pit, can I get my cash back out parting? If yes, I'll buy it.
