i would go $1,000 max. i would offer him $700. but you better be ready to work on that things, hubs could be in need of replacement, or the modulator, not to mention a full 60k run over of fluids, plugs, wires, thermostat, front drive shaft....

Yup 1000 would classify as dirt cheap. I would do that for sure. Like D said, you could make that back just by parting it out if you had to.

The loose kick panel on the passenger side makes me think the ECM was replaced. The VIN in on the label, you could check and see if it matches. My odometer flashed when I replaced the ECM on my 99, until I turned that feature off.

So does $1100 count as a good deal ? thats where we stand, I took it for a test drive today, it drove fine - no noises, engine didnt tick, but the 3 amigos are on, and there are 4 codes, the worst being the MAF, and crank position sensor. It will probably need new engine mounts, and a tune up. The brakes vibrated when pressed, it sat through the winter, snow and all and hasnt been driven for months. The owner had the calipers and pads changed a little while ago - but not the rotors, they look like they have plenty of life but are covered in rust.

Oh and it can use a little body work - nice 3" gouge on the hood and a couple other stuff here and there

So whats your thoughts on it

$1100 for a running driving disco sounds like a steal to me. I think british pacific has the mounts for like $25 each. Crank sensor from Autozone is less than $80. MAF is probably the priciest, but I think you can probably find one for the 4.0 for between $100 - $200. The 3 amigos is a crap shoot, anywhere from free to hundreds of dollars to fix.

I'd buy it.

Smile reason of replacement

i had to replace mine because the moron before me had broke off the LED's of the 3 amigos.

as said before be careful because it was replaced for some reason...
this replacement is because this disco is immobilized for alarm and to activate it, the booth elements are changed

Its got 140K on it, SE7 - rear suspension replaced with springs, engine is pretty quite though could use a tune up, heads were replaced 2 years ago.

The CEL codes are P01590, P0340, P0444. (there is a loose plug hanging on the side of the drivers side of the engine - under throttle body)

I couldnt find my Amigo at the time I went to check it out so dont know what those codes are.

The truck definitely looks like it was a project - the dash was loose, passenger side toe/knee kick board was missing, nice little dent in hood, the rear moon roof doesnt open, and the rear door doesnt open either.

The way I see it, any disco I get will eventually have issues, not really sure I want to get so involved, so I am thinking it may not be such a bad idea to learn on something like this which is cheap and runs - but has issues and if it comes down to it a can get rid of later - even at a bit of a loss

Right now I fix my own vehicles but they are volvos form the late 90's so its a different ball game
The challenges are interesting, if you have the money, you go and buy the whole thing without any problems...but I understand that these groups are made up of people who are experimenting and want to learn more about these machines. that is the magic of these machines and their engineering.
