A miracle: craigslist tire swap
I've been craving mud terrains even before I bought my rover, but haven't had the cahones to pony up $800.
I had my michelin tires on craigslist, and stated the reason as selling as "want mud tires". I got lots of replies wanting to buy, but again, dragging feet.
A dude replies "hey i have some nice mud tires, maybe we could swap". Miraculously, they are 245/75/16 Goodyear Wrangler MT/Rs. We meet at Firestone, they still have the little nubbies on 'em, but they're too loud in his ragtop jeep (he had just bought it used). his "wife hates em".
So we trade straight up, only had to pay for install and lifetime balance/rotation (total = $90). I went from this:
To below....they're louder, no doubt - like going from a civic to a tractor - but that hum makes the hair on my chest grow.
i haven't wheeled with em yet, but hopefully no more of this!!!

ok im coming to your house and slashing those tires I've been trying to find a good deal on some used 245/75/r16 mud terrains with aggressive tread like the MT/R without any luck. As you heard when when he pulled up they're loud..and they wear fast..but still that's the trade of the week..rover looks a lot better with them on.

yeah, i made him drive down the interstate in the jeep, so i knew what i was in for...i just wanted to make sure the steering wheel wasn't wobbling...
my stereo is definitely playing louder now!
though, later today i increased the tire pressure from 35psi to 42psi and that seemed to help, particularly starting from a stop.
but it's worth it... there's something about that hum that resembles a muscle flex.
