Default Misfire only on low tank

Hi Folks. new to the forums here and also new owner of a 2004 dico with 119k. It had some coolant leaks and i fixed those and also it have some really small misfires. It runs great but had the service light on. Funny thing is I notice when I fill the tank up the light goes off and misfire seem to stop. I have new plugs and fresh oil and filter. Any ideas? thanks all.

Have you checked the codes? I recently had this issue, I believe the code was 1315. When I looked it up it was a code for a misfire due to low fuel, specific to rovers too I think. Others have suggested it's crap clogging the lines or injectors when allowing to let the gas tank get that low. I ended up running a couple cans of seafoam to see if that helped clean stuff out. It's possible to get into the gas tank as well too. Anyways, seems fine for the past few months now.

Just a guess, but maybe it has a cracked or disconnected hose on the fuel pump that sucks air when the tank gets low?

Try using Lucas Oil Fuel Stabilizer with every tank of gas. It does a great job of cleaning up the fuel system. When the truck misfires near empty, it means that there is a lot of crap at the bottom of the tank. The fuel stabilizer will help the injectors "pass" all that stuff.
