Looking for some help on my 2000 Discovery 2. I've had the truck for a few years and recently replaced the head gaskets, radiator, and starter. Truck was running good but now misfires on 1,6, and throws a code for random misfire as well. Seems to run okay until I get north of 30 MPH and give it some gas, at which time it shutters (misfires) and gets no power. Wires are secure but cylinder 1 gave me a good shock when I touched the connection boot (rookie move). I know the wires and coil pack can be a nightmare to get to so I wanted to see if anybody has had the same issues so I'm not having to tear into the same stuff more than once. Thanks in advance

 

1 and 6 are on the same coil pack I would start with new 8 mm wires and coils
rock auto has Bosch coil packs very cheap

as far as the job itself after doing it on my 03 disco with sai it’s not bad at all
it takes about 20 minutes to take out the intake manifold it’s really easy

 

FYI. If you get shocked by a spark plug wire through the wires insulation on any make vehicle, you are way past due for new wires. It's a ruff way to find out you need new spark plug wires!! lol. Should be a fairly easy fix for you.

 

Thanks guys, ordered new wires, plugs, and coil packs. I'll tackle it this weekend and see what happens. Fingers crossed.
