Default Misfire issue: Can 7mm wires cause probs in less than 5K miles?

Okay so I have an occasional misfire, maybe once or twice a week. Previous owner changed plugs (Bosch Platinum) & wires (Magnacore 7mm) bout 2000 miles ago. On my long drive home, I got a check engine light with the code 1313, misfire in bank A.

Then a couple days ago, I discovered a couple days ago that he also misconnected two wires to the wrong cylinders. He crossed cylinders 2 & 3, which are on the same coil pack. So I swapped them around & assumed that was my misfire issue solved, but last night I got the Check Engine light & the code of 1314, misfire in bank B. so the problem moved banks with my returning the wires to their proper cylinders.

I've inspected the plugs & they look fine, the wires also look good. I know using 7mm wires is anathema on this board, but should they be causing issues this early? Which bank is A & which is B? I guess it be the coil pack going bad too?

Anythings possible, but I replaced my plug wires with chepo autozones (before I knew about this forum) and have been running them for almost 2yrs now with no prob's.

I would think having 2 wires on the wrong plugs would cause alot more than an occasional misfire. It should run like crap that way.

BTW, I believe bank A is left(drivers) side. Could very well be a coil pack goin south. Could also be carbon build up on the valves, I would try some really good injector cleaner before I went buying a coil pack.

I can't comment as to weather 7mm vs 8mm on these trucks will cause misfires. I can say that I have gotten bad wires from multiple sources over the years. Last round was with Accel for my truck. One bad wire in one set and two in the replacement. If it's a suspect internal issue to the wire start checking and comparing resistance on the wires with an ohm meter. If you suspect spark jump, take a spray bottle with a light salt water solution and lightly mist the wires and areas of contact in the dark looking for "fireworks". I'd check the readings on your coils and verify the plugs as well for any differences in gap or coloration.

Misfires codes that keep returning have been bad coil packs in my trucks. Could be injector etc but it always seems to be a coil pack...

i have cheap 7mm unfortunately, but they dont cause a misfire. I do suspect they may be causing a tick by not fully igniting. The leak like a s.o.b. too
