hats off to you and good luck. i started with P0304 the other day. i know it needs a tune up. im waiting to find out where that coolant leak it first.. yes the one on the back of the engine.. 1 of 2 possibilities. either way, plugs and wires will be done at that point. i will also point out that my disco has some pretty small looking grey wires on it.

IT'S BACK......
Lurking like a mugger in the shadows. P0307. Strangely, no others.
Thoughts guys/gals?
Oh, and the 3 amigos came calling.

Fact is that if you were to maintain your Rover properly---that is called preventive maintenance---the fault codes would seldom, if ever, appear. When fault codes appear, it is nothing to fear, like the plague, but is something to cherish, as a good friend, helping you to understand and address needs of your Rover.
I still think that it is paramount, that a Rover owner should understand and do all work on his Rover by himself, or be wealthy enough to hire it done; no alternatives.

EarlyRover - I am in complete agreement. I actually enjoy working on these things, and get a lot of good laughs out of them, mostly muttering "those damn limeys" under my breath.

I'm with you on the maintenance, all my 4 wheel vehicles (except this rover oddly) have over 200K on them, and I would get in any and drive cross country.

Sadly, I haven't been able to rack up the same mileage on the bikes. But I'm working on it.

Sure, I could pay the shop, but I tend to have a flair for the dramatic (just ask the SWMBO - it comes with my job) and gladly accept a checking for it.

I'll foam this engine and swap these this saturday, and report back. Going for the non-IM removal. I am curious to see what happens, as I only have the #7 misfire, and no other codes, but it is getting worse. I'm thinking wire (I can see them out of the loom on the backside of the head) shorting against the block.

Again everyone, thank you for the help, insights, and chastisement. I need and appreciate them all.

Wires and Seafoam done. Holy cow those wires suck to swap. I got a lot of quality time on top of my engine fumbling around the firewall. What a ***** the guy was who put those coils there.

Ran great for about 25 miles.

GF took it to store. P0307. AGAIN.

Bollocks.

What next? I can't see an O2 sensor tripping only one cylinder, would seem more likely it would trip up a whole bank..and there are no codes associated with them showing??

Will foam another full tank, and maybe replace the spark plug on #7 again, but would a coil do this? Engine doesn't stutter, seems almost imperceptible to me.

It's official - help please!

Well now I'm really stumped.

I drove over 100 miles today. Code free. On 89 octane gas and a can of sea foam.

Nothing. Engine smooth as silk, no pending codes on scanner.

Temps outside the same (I live in Phoenix for winter) temps on UG th same.

So, problem resolved for the time being....

Update: 300 miles + and 2 gf trips to store; misfire is no where to be found!

fingers crossed but plugs/wires/seafoam seems to have done the trick.

best of luck to you all.

Ok.. rover hasn't thrown SES light in over a week. But UG keeps reminding me of a pending Po304 code. I pulled the plug on cyl4.

Opinions? Besides replace them. I am horrible at reading spark plugs. Lol... I do have a whole new set of ngk plats and wires ready to go in.

Currently it has champion rciipypb4.
