Default Moaning noise

Hello. I am experiencing a "moaning" or "whining" noise that would come and go while at a stop light or when the car is at rest. I do not hear it while the truck is in motion. I wonder if any of you have had this experience. I love my 2002 Disco and would like to keep it forever. I am not a gear head but I have a reputable mechanic who mainly work on British cars. Any thoughts? Cheers.

My first thought is that there may be a small child or "elfish" person hung up on your differentials. I would check that first. If its not that than I have no idea...

Haha, I actually was joking around with my wife that it was the truck complaining about how she drove the truck. Cheers.

Yeah your post made me think of the time I found muddy finger prints around the bottom of my front wheel which made me wonder if my music was so loud I couldn't hear the hermit I ran over somewhere in the woods.

I would guess it may be your PAS pump going bad, does it groan when turning the wheel at a standstill?

No, it doesn't groan or moan when you turn the wheel but it does sound pump related.

Can you replicate the sound with the truck stopped? If so I would stick my head under the hood and try to narrow down the area that it is coming from.
