I can believe no one said change the fuel filter. Anyone tried RAM air?
I just cleaned my intake manifold and CCVs were pretty much blocked.
Clean MAF change O2 sensor.
Upgrade CAT / De Cat?

First, start a new thread instead of going on a 6 year old.
Second, D2's don't have fuel filters, do not clean your MAF unless you are ready to buy a new one cause many fail when being cleaned. Change the 02's if over 100,000 miles on them, leave the cats alone and air up your tires to 40 pounds, all the way around.

Get the lightest tires/rims you can get with highway tread. rotating mass kills like no other.

Take as much weight out of the truck as you can... really want to be **** about it, remove the carpetting, floor mats, spare tire, jack, rear seats, only fill the tank half full, remove pushbar or rear trailer hitch etc.

dont use the a/c.

Easy on the throttle, leep steady inputs. coast down hills, turn engine off ASAP after arriving to your destination.

Make sure your airfilter is clean, consider a highflow design.

Keep up on your tuneups.... consider changing o2's, fix any exhuast leaks. or go as far as getting coated exhuast manifolds, highflow cats and open exhuast.

get a scanguage so you can find your speed sweet spot on highway that maximises economy for the days wind/traffic pattern.

buy a motorcycle for nonweather travel!

If your daily driver is a 78 Bronco with a big block, 4 bbl carb, 5:13 gears and 37" tires, you buy a disco as a way to save on gas

Do not go to the lightest tires and wheels, bad advice, Discos require and 8 or 10 ply rated tire to handle the weight and top heavy bodys, also stay with alloy wheels they are lighter.

.....within load index spec of course. just sayin, a wide mud terrain, massive tred, sidewall armour bs vs. a flat all season...aluminum vs steel, 16 vs 17/19/22's etc. every pound counts.

You can try M1 0W-30 Advanced Fuel Economy engine oil. It's actually a thick 30W oil, closer to a 40W and has excellent cold start up flow and protection properties. Mobil claims 1%-3% gain in fuel economy over a conventional engine oil. Many people here will claim a heavy duty engine oils only in these trucks. It's kinda silly because there are passenger car motor oils that are far better in every way. The 0W-30 AFE is a very high quality oil with a way better additive (2x the TBN- aka the cleaning agents) package than Rotella 15W-40 in it's conventional form. Switching to the Rotella synthetic will probably net you a tad better gas mileage too, but with a higher viscosity at operating temperature it's hard to squeeze mpg out of it. In the end, synthetics will improve your gas mileage over conventionals.
