Default mounting kayak on disco

Hey Guys:


What's the best way to mount two tandem Kayaks on my '03 disco? I have only the stock rook racks. The tandem Kayak's are about 14' in length.


Safari Rack then strap the kayaks down? Any photos to share of anyone who has done what I am looking to do?

Not kayaks but......
Thule super high feet and full length bars. Two canoes and a rod tube.

And Yakima has basically the same setup.

I actually have a set of 4 Yakima feet I want to sell.
1A Raingutter 4 Pack | Yakima
You'd need to get the extensions and cross bars. 1A HiRise Spacers | Yakima
I also have a NIB Kayak Stacker.

They resemble LR Defender wheels.

Mine are the Deep Dish and came stock on my LE D1. I never understood the reason for steel wheels unless they were beadlocks.

I had the Yakima towers and bars, actually. The towers would either touch the alpine windows or come within 1-2mm of touching them. Too close for me so I returned them and bought the Thule.

I never used the Yakima tower extensions, I'm too cheap. I made my own so maybe mine are taller.

I think the steel vs. alloy is just personal preference. I like my wolf wheels, but I also run alloy.

Thanks guys. Another piggy back question:


Could I get a safari rack and then load the Kayaks on top? Strap down the puppies opening side down? I like FISH EH's set-up....straight bars and maybe go 68 inches wide with the straight bar? Just wondering if I get a safari rack will the rack be comparably wide enough similar to do what FISH has done so that I can lay the Kayaks flat. I would probably use Styrofoam insulation tube on the perimeter of the safari rack to provide cushion on the belly of the kayaks to minimize abrasions/wear and tear.
