Default Moving on

I haven't posted in quite some time; however after 15,000 relatively trouble free miles with my DII HSE in six months, I've decided to move up to a LR3 HSE.

My Three Amigos (well, Four Amigos, to be exact) popped up about two weeks ago, and after doing new brakes all around and a fluid flush; I gave in and ordered the ABS scan gauge today and will rectify that pesky issue before selling the truck.

This is just a heads up that if anyone is looking for a well maintained 03 DII HSE to get ahold of me and that my ABS scan tool will be for sale after these idiot lights go out for good.

Is the ABS tool the only thing that can get the codes reset? What does it do exactly?

Yes, its the only tool; short of Hawkeye and the LR system that will reset the ABS lights; but as I'm a perfectionist, I just want to make sure there are no other potential ABS issues that may need to be addressed prior to the sale of the vehicle.

Glad to hear there are still good people like you in the world that actually are willing to fix a vehicle issue before selling it, rather than just getting the codes cleared and hoping they don't pop up until the title is signed over.

Post some pics of your new Discovery III when you get it!

what is an ABS scan guage? there is a scan guage 2 that reads error codes off the ECU but not off the ABS, then there is the ABS Amigo which is model specific and only reads ABS codes and not engine codes

Yes, the ABS Amigo is what I meant.

Most scan tools will not read ABS codes.

Okay. I got the ABS Amigo on Friday. It came well wrapped and packaged.

No cable, no instructions, no nothing in the box except for the ABS Amigo.

Followed the instructions on the Amigo itself to "read" the codes from my DII.

Went to Best Buy to buy a mini usb (or whatever the connector on the Amigo is called) to standard USB cable. The file didnt automatically prompt when I plugged in the Amigo to the computer. Back to Best Buy, exchanged cable. Same phenomenon. My computer does not detect an USB connection. As an experiment, I hooked up my printer, digital camera, and other peripherals and my computer had no problem recognizing them through the USB port.

I'm running Windows Vista 64 bit.

The video tutorial on RSW Solution's site seems to be showing a Windows 98 or XP computer screen.

Anyone use the ABS Amigo with Vista or 7?

Are there any other tutorials/advice that the cohort can provide me with?

Thanks.
