Default Moving spare inside

I think I like the look of the Disco without the spare on the outside. Anyone know of a good solution to cover the this space after I remove the bracket?

One of these would fit nicely.

How about one of those Rotopax fuel tanks? (Although I personally feel this is a dangerous location to carry fuel...)

As small as the DII is on the inside, have you considered on the roof/roof rack for the spare?

Rotopax also makes food grade containers if you want to stick water back there.

Roof rack would cost $1000. More than I want to spend at this point. Plus at work I park in a parking garage so I am already maxed out in terms of height. 😟

Well when you truly start making your D2 into a dedicated trail rig vs daily driver it's hard to keep the same size spare as your larger tires on the ground for starters. Flipping the Mount can allow you to mount a 275/65R18, and that adapter or new mount can get you up to a 33inch tire, but any larger and your pretty much SOL without a totally custom mount. Not to mention the added weight put on the door hinges with say a steel wheel and larger tire. Same issue a lot of the Jeep guys ran into (except their tiny tail gates would just refuse to even shut with to much weight on the stock carrier/tail gate). At that point you're honestly better off ditching the spare, and buying the ARB Plug Kit and carrying a good compressor to air it back up. Now of coarse that won't help with a total blow out, but if it's a daily driver and you have a blow out you should be close enough near civilization to have a buddy come pick you up and take you to a tire shop, or have it towed to a tire shop.

The simple plug kits have saved my bacon a few times in the past. Sure it's not a permanent fix, but as long as the tire holds air and gets you moving you should be able to get home or get it repaired.

I'm not a fan of the fuel cans on the back door for a lot of reasons, but sure water or a trail box back there would be handy for a trail truck. Daily driver = stuff is easy to just walk off with.

Best - That sounds like a good idea. I have both the plug kit and the air compressor. My question is really around some sort of blanking plate to go where the spare tire currently sits. Jeeps have got something for this and I was hoping some folks might know of a similar item for the Disco.

The D1/D2's I've seen with the spare tire mount removed just put some nice SS Allen Head button bolts in place of the OEM bolts/black plates. It didn't look to bad.

Stripper pole? I mean, I've heard guys say it can get lonely on the trail. Why not be prepared?
