Default MPG Help

I have a "new to me" 96 Discovery. I am working through the 60K list. So far I have done the tranny, changed engine oil, air filter, SeaFoam treatments. I filled my gas take up with 93 octane and SeaFoam. This tank only got me 10-11MPG. This was with 50/50 hwy/city? Should I be getting a little more than this? I have not engine lights on. What should I do next to improve my MPG?
Thanks,
Jason

I usually get about 14-15, almost all city. As you work your way through the 60k list you'll notice your mpg start to go up. If it doesn't reach 15-16 on 50/50 highway/city after it's done, then I'd be concerned, but for now just keep working on that list.

Get your new plugs and wires along with an induction cleaning, air up your tires and see what happens.

A light foot, a good tune up, a clean air filter and your tires at 40psi.
When on the expressway set the cruise at 65.

I get ~ 14mpg in my D2. Doesn't seem to matter much how hard or fast I drive. I'll be filling my "disaster" tanks today in preparation for Hurricane season. I figure with six jerry cans in the back I'll be able to make it from this disaster area to.... a disaster area a little further away.....

Make sure your suspension is in tip top shape as well. Thats one of the main reasons I did the shocks and springs at 100K. Remember a Disco is a big physics problem as well, everything has to load up to produce forward momentum under the Disco as well. Think of a dragster pulling a tire up or both for that matter. I also did this to even the odds on the 265/75/16 procomp extreme at's I am running for what it's worth.

no aftermarket roof racks,,, air up tires on road. light foot. replace plugs and wires with good ones. dont go much over speed limits.

my 04 gets 18 hwy and about 14 city.

you can do better if you tune er up

If you have to use ethanol fuel it will hurt the mileage by as much as 15%.
I get around 12 mpg city with out AC and the power/mpg robbing ethanol.

If I am not mistaken, by Federal law, we all use some % of methanol in our fuel.

BP has big signs that claim their gas uses no ethonal. So I don't think its a federal law, I think its just strongly encouraged.

Im only getting 14-15 but I drive at 70-75 too...
