Latest updates:
costco premium fill of half tank cut mileage to 14.27
Costco premium filled from empty cut mileage to 13.2
shell premium filled from empty raised to 15.3
all same driving miles. School run and such.
will continue to add to this thread with updates
as FYI first fill listed was calculated on shell in tank originally
thought I was clever to buy Costco.... oh well

Thanks for starting this. I feel that my bone stock 04' doesn't get the mileage it should and I'm interested to see what others get.
2004 Disco, 156k, unknown mileage on motor (but it runs good!). Stock configuration except for bigger tires (255/70 R16), muffler, and high flow cats.
My speedo is off 3-4 mph at anything over 50, so I am not sure my trip odometer is accurate, which is what I use to calculate fuel mileage.
Always fill with 93 from Shell or Chevron. Last three fill ups
- 11.5 mpg, all in town start stop driving. A little more aggressively on the throttle than I should be.
- 11.8 mpg, all highway, but towing unloaded trailer in high wind
- 11.7 mpg, all in town start stop driving. Less aggressive on the throttle.

Yep, I’ll try and calculate my actual mileage. Looks like the stock size for my SE was a 255/55R18. I’m on a taller tire but smaller wheel. Too much math... Overall is sounds like my mileage is incrementally better than what I’m calculating.
Save yourself the trouble of math and just use an app. I have one called MPH which uses gps to ascertain your actual miles per hour. Compare that to your speedometer.
In my case when the app says I'm doing 70 the speedo says 73 and the Ultragauge says 68.
Obviously if your speedo is off so is your odometer.
For me that adds up to about 30 miles over a 300 mile tank full of gas. That is a 10% variance.
Here is an example of how it effects the math... 300 (miles) divided by 20 gallons = 15mpg
Conversely... 330 divided by 20 = 16.5 mpg... And 270 divided by 20 = 13.5...
Moral of the story, don't rely on your odometer if you want an accurate MPG figure.
Since everyone has different combinations of wheel and tire size it would be beneficial to everyone if we used accurate data rather than odometer readings to determine and compare
our MPG.

Alternatively you can use mile markers on interstates, check 10+ miles to reduce error, see how far off your speedo is.
My stock 00 on stock size Micheline 16" tires was within 1/10 of a mile over 40 miles.
Several long road trips from central VA to western SC this summer. 17mpg at 75 indicated mph. Normally 13-15mpg around town depending on mix of highway and city. Stock truck, 250k on the clock, 170 thermostat, pcv mod. I think the Michelins help, but truth be told my other 226k 00 gets about the same, maybe a little less.
