Default My 2001 Gold Discovery SOLD

All,
I reposted my Discovery on Craigslist for a lark.
Just not to lose the ad content as it was a lot of work to put it in.

Low and behold - after getting jerked around for year and then giving up
the perfect buyer came around.

I was about to tell him - "NO, I can't sell it". I am quite attached to the Discovery now.

But - he really really wants it. And seem to love it.

Therefore, who am I to stand in the way of true love.

I'll sell it to him.

I have had absolutely a trouble free year with it with no issues after changing the trio of radiator, 180 degree thermostat and Hayden Fan cluch.

Here is the ad

SOLD! 2001 Land Rover Discovery II all records low miles

I'll miss the darn thing.
Admired it in the parking lot.
I'll take a farewell drive in it on Friday to get it smogged.

And Saturday - papers are signed.

You may still see me lurking.

Probably why I have been posting a lot in the last few days.
Sad perhaps.

Been a great two years with that 2001 Discovery.
And last year we sold off our 1997 Discovery I.
That was not easy either.

You can take me out of the Rover.
But you can't take the Rover out of me.

For a time I will have no car.
As my employer is reducing head count - I may not need a car for awhile.
I do plan to bicycle into work - 11 miles each way.

Best to all,
jfall

Failed smog
Reading were fine from tail pipe
Little PVC hose had a crack in it

I had to pay 35 for smog

Drove home and cut the cracked part of
The hose off
There was enough left
Put back on with radiator clamp
They said this is ok
As long as the hose is the correct part

Had my old hose not worked
Then
53 special order from landrover

This has taken hours

So two smog tests today and

To sell it in California

Well I sharpened my tongue when I got up this morning, jfall, but you just transformed me into a blubbering mess. I feel like there has been a death in the family . That was some true love packaged up and sealed with a kiss X2 (ad and post). Is it possible for anyone to care about their Rover more? Your description screamed of passion, love for adventure and the Rover experience - if anyone deserves to drive a Rover it's you. I know that we haven't had much of an introduction to each other but I did notice your name on the forum and am saddened that I won't be seeing it pop up among the threads. I wish you well and best of luck at your job. Take care xx

Thanks Landrover_1.
I am beside myself.
My rover that I worked so so hard on two years ago with Head Gaskets and last year with the radiator - will be gone.

I took a last drive in it tonight and realized what a fine machine it is and how well kept it is. I got lucky buying it from the fine family who owned it before me.

This truck grew on me. I was ready to sell it a year ago as I felt I was wasting it just commuting in it.

But now I really really appreciate it.
Well I'll need to keep my eyes out for another one in due time.

The gal who sold it to me - I promised her I would take care of it.
I guess I did. I brought it back to health.
And really enjoyed it for the 10,000 miles in two years that I did drive it.

The big adventure was replacing the head gaskets in the parking lot as here:

Well maybe I will do it again.
I lucked out with this rover and the head gaskets going ok.

yeah, gonna miss it.

New owner came to pick up his new 2001 Discovery II.

The torch has been passed.

Proud new owner (left) and friend.
Navy guys.
Very decent people.
Out of 15 buyers - these were the right people and the buyer deserved this Land Rover Discovery. Proud for him to have it.
