Thanks, I'm in Edmonton, Alberta. I'll need some advice once I get it re: which fluids to replace immediately, etc, etc.

Its even a 3 door!!! No air bags, nothing...I am so jealous!!!

BE ADVISED that the 60k service is for a gas engine NOT a diesel.
Here is what you will need to do, and if it truly does only have 14,000 kilometers on it that is a HUGE bonus.

Change the oil and filter, good luck finding a filter.
Take your old one to a autoparts store and have them match it up, they will not list any in their books or computer I would bet the farm on that.
Change the drive line fluids, that means transfer case, both differentials and the transmission.
Change the power steering fluid and engine coolant.
Also change the fuel filter.
Now the reason you need to change these fluids is because of the time they have been in the truck, they are not worn out, they may be contaminated with water from sitting so much.
Condensation and all.

It is pretty easy to convert her to a LHD if you really wanted to.

Thanks! I'll start looking for those filters now. Is it worthwhile using synth in this motor or would that be asking for trouble?

Dont bother with the full syn, just use good ole diesel oil like God intended.
Shell Rotella 5w-40 and change it every 5,000 kilometers.

I thought Japanese vehicles were LHD.

I don't drive my Disco (from California) in the winter snow/salt, as crazy as that may sound. My experience is that older vehicles degrade pretty quickly when exposed to the salt and upper midwest element. I use our Jeep GC for that work, I'll keep the Disco looking great.

I used to be star-struck by diesels, and I still think they are pretty good. But having owned a TDI Jetta for a few years, there is good and bad that balance each other out to a certain degree. True they get better economy, but also very hard starting in cold winter temps; No heat for a solid 15 minutes, even then they don't throw as much heat; Slow off the line (but then the V8 isn't speedy either).

All in all I think you'll be happy. Let us know how it goes.

actually just pay the money to get all the filters sent to you from the UK.
