Default My first Rover, and first post!

Just came home today with a 2004 Disco, drove it home 200 miles today, and loved the ride.

It is tired, 170k+ miles, but the driveline seems solid so far, very dry of leaks except a power steering line, very clean underneath and in the engine bay (but dusty).

Some interior and plastic trim issues, but I do not care - this is going to end up being an expedition build, resources allowing.

I have been lurking here for a little bit, (which is why I decided to find a 2004 SE).

Well, the adventure begins tomorrow, I suppose. Pics to follow.

Thanks for the info I have gleaned from all the great posts, I have heard so many nightmares, but I just could not escape the lure of a late Discovery II, so here I am!

Jeff

Congrats. Welcome to the asylum. I could not have predicted how much I enjoy my truck. Despite only driving it for a year and then having it in rehab for the last 10 months, I have not lost the spark (hopefully the truck hasn't either). Getting close to the finish line and really looking forward to being back in the saddle. Where are you located? 200 mile ride home? That probably cost about as much as the truck! Haha. Looking forward to some pics.

I live in SE Arizona, I got the truck south of Phoenix, and drove it home after crawling under and in it as much as I needed to assuage my fear of driving an unknown 16 year old used truck 200 miles home. But all went well, and tomorrow the next layer of inspection starts.

I'm cautiously optimistic at this point, we will see how it goes.

Welcome to the forum.
I despise Land Rovers so much that I am on my 3rd Disco. It's a love/hate relationship.
Follow the sticky's in the Discovery II forum starting with Disco Mike's "Major Service". All the info in that sticky section will help you immensely.

Thanks, everyone.

I will be reading for days. I guess I should stop watching youtube videos of Camel Trophy and start learning to fix it, as that is partially what got me here in the first place!

Check the fluid levels. Not leaking doesn't mean it can't leak.

More likely, no leaks mean it's all leaked out already.

Welcome welcome welcome. You now get to have a love hate relationship like all the rest of us now! They are definitely great cars if taken care of correctly. You’re in for a fun ride.

Say it with me . . ."If it's not leaking it's empty"
