I think a gear broke. I was in the middle of a pull, and SNAP!. I could actually pull cable out while it was engaged. Reverse still worked. I had to pull all the cable out and run it in reverse (no brake) just to get out.

I see now why I should buy a Warn. What one would you guys recommend?

I don't want to have this happen again.

Warranty should replace the whole thing though, so you can at least craigslist it when it comes back.

I would shop for a Warn 10k at least. I think 8 is not enough for these trucks. 8 is good for the light jeeps only.

 

Sorry to hear but that is why most on this forum recommend the Warn.
