Default My new 2004 DII

Well I finally got my Disco. I've had it for a couple of days, but just getting around to posting about it. I love it! It drives great and it feels soooo good to finally be back in an big vehicle. I've been driving a 99 Civic coupe for a year and a half as a commuter and couldn't take it any more. I've always wanted a LR so I finally have one.

As part of the purchase, the owner replaced the head gasket, serpentine belt, front cover gasket, and water pump gasket. The coolant was flushed and switched over to regular green coolant. All the work was done a the LR dealership since I didn't know of a good indie to get the work done at yet. Anyone know a good one in Northern VA?

Here is a pic. 2004 DII SE, 64K miles. Its in PERFECT condition inside and out. Sorry for the dirty pic, but the roads are a mess with salt right now.

Very nice! You picked one of, if the THE, best year of the Disco.
Enjoy it!

Thats a nice truck, I had Gray 04 I loved it.
BTW, a quick trip to the dealer will have you coming home with some front mud flaps easy to install and keeps the sides cleaner.
Good luck with your new ride

Welcome to the group.
Well now time for you to spend some money. The front drive shaft on your truck probably only has 1 grease fitting instead of the 3 it should have. If that is the case, you need to make plans to have it rebuilt, 2 new greasable u-joints and a centering ball, or replace with something ;like a new Tom Woods shaft before it fails and takes out your tranny at the same time.

Thanks guys! Yeah, I have a whole list of things I'm planning on. The front drive shaft is first. A remote start system is second. My wife is making me part with some of my other "toys" to pay for all the mods/extras so I'm trying to move a couple of my weapons or wait until I get my per diem from my upcoming Thailand trip. Either way, I have to wait before I do anything.

Anyone have any tips to improve fuel economy? I know I won't get anything stellar, but a little increase would be nice. I've thought about a chip and exhaust. I need to do more research though.

Dont bother with a chip they dont do any good for rovers. The best thing for MPG is to watch your driving style, keep up with maintainence, and ALWAYS use premium. If you stay of top of that your MPG will be just about what it needs to be. I get about 17-18 Hwy, 14-15 City.

congrats on the purchase, looks great! As far as better mileage...make sure you have good plugs/8mm wires and keep it below 65mph. Also, swapping out all fluids to synthetic will help.
