Default my new (to me) disco

ok so here it is. my first land rover. a 1997 disco i got on ebay for 800 dollars.runs fine, drove it 120 miles home from the guys house. has a few issues im working on.i replaced the control arms for headlights, and wipers as well as the rotary coupling ( still cant get the horn to work.) the sterring column shroud. has no radio or speakers so im trying to figure out the proper metra harness and also the subs and amplifiers are gone. any advice as to what i should check out besides the obvious stuff? oh its also got a check engine light on and the seller told me auto zone said its an o2 sensor but he couldnt remember which one. i really dont mind putting some work into it bec i paid so little. so the only things im not sure whatto start looking for is the rear left window wont go down, and the sunroofs dont open. thanks everyone for any future help, im looking forward to chatting with all of you and maybe meeting some of you as well

for 800 bucks, a frame with wheels sounds like a decent buy. Disco I's are easily repaired. At least compared to newer rovers, lol. Just make sure you're using premium gas, get what issues you have fixed and you'll have a great truck on your hands. Do a search on these forums for the RAVE manual. It has everything and more you could ever want to know about your truck. If you've got any questions don't hesitate to ask. I'm fairly confident at this point that Disco Mike has memorized the manual

i definitley got the rave manual already, although it leaves a little to be desired as far as the wiring stuff goes. i have a post in the general tech forum about a plug i can figure where goes while i rebuilt the steering column. im trying to find a good wiring diagram for this area

Before you waste your money on O2's do a tune up, plugs and wires. 90% of the time a Rover throws a O2 code it is because it needs a tune up, no, make that 95% of the time.
Dont worry about the windows or sunroofs yet. Take care of the mechanical stuff first.

yea spike, my dad is an old wrench turner from the 60s and 70s, and the first thing he said was replace the freakin wires and plugs!!! lol. while theyre on their way, i wanted to fool with something. and i still need a radio, and that seems to be such a weird thing in these trucks

Well the amp in my '97 was toast when I bought mine, I just went to Circuit City and got a new head unit and had them install it.
Go to www.atlanticbritish.com and look for the "window lift ECU repair kit", it is like $15 and should fix your back window. The dash is already torn apart so now would be a good time to do it.
As for the sunroofs, the motors might be bad, it happens. I dont even open my sunroofs, it messes up my hair! (thats funny because I'm bald)

i have no idea about that plug... but i do know there was a recall on the disco 1's because the cruise control wire would rub on the steering column or something and if it happened to ground out it will set off your airbag... so look very closely for worn wire insulation...
