Default Mystery rubber piece while rebuilding propshaft

Hey guys, sorry I haven't don't a new member intro yet but my name is Greg and I have a 2002 disco XP. I was rebuilding the propshaft tonight following the awesome write up from antichrist (much appreciated) and upon disassembling the double cardon I found a rubber sleeve with a metal lip. The rubber piece was torn and I can't seem to find the part anywhere, actually I can't even find any mention of it in write ups or part diagrams. I'm wondering if anyone knows what it's called or even better where I can obtain one. Thanks all in advance.

The rubber piece in the photo is the one I'm missing

Off of the shaft it looks like this, you can see the very visable tear.

It's the grease retaining ring. It doesn't come with the driveshaft rebuild kits so you will need to buy one from a driveshaft re-manufacturer or possibly directly from an LR parts supplier.

You could try these people Propshafts - LANDROVER DISCOVERY FRONT SHAFT - Driveshaft Parts Ltd but I'm sure there are places in the US who can supply. Good luck.

The dealer is extremely unlikely to have them since they never rebuild propshafts.
I actually haven't found anyone that carries them.

Ah i see, so a driveline shop then would be the best bet? Or better yet is there anywhere you know of where they sell them online? Ive done quite a bit of poking around on the web but havent turned up anything.

I don't have one out to measure at the moment. Have you actually used that PN? They are listed for 1310 assemblies, no mention of 1300's, which is what the DII's have.

I have not used them.

I posted a thread a few months back with this same issue and someone posted those links there.

However if you check out the Dana .pdf, the specs for the sections dealing with the centering ball are the same for the 1210 and 1310. This would lead me to believe they would be the same for the 1300.
