Default Need Advice: MP3/CD Upgrade for D2

Hey guys,

My wife has a 2000 D2 with the standard Am/Fm/Tape player, and a 6 disk changer under the passenger seat. For Christmas, I want to get her a new dash unit that has a CD player and an MP3 / Aux plugin.

Have any of you done this? I'm looking for something in the $250-$400 range.

Thanks brothers!!

Pat

It takes a single DIN headunit so just pick the one you want and make sure you also get the wire harness kit to go with it so you dont have to cut wires.

Hello Spike! Good to hear from you, and thanks for the tip on the "Single DIN headunit"- that really helps, man.

BearCat- I already emailed those guys, and they haven't replied...

I didn't realize I could just buy any old dash-unit- this is great news. My concerns at this point are that it will not look good in the dash.

Has anyone here put an aftermarket dash unit in? Did you have any troubles?

Thanks all!

Pat

I have a Kenwood headunit in my truck.
When I bought my truck the factory amp was toast and the cd changer was not working.
Went to Best Buy and bought a new unit, had them install it.

I would suggest that if you are going to install it yourself to buy from Crutchfield, they will include all the wireharness you need as well as a amp by-pass kit.
Depending on which OEM stereo Mandy has depends on whether or not you have a separate amp.
I am going to be replacing my stereo soon with another Kenwood so I dont have to buy another wire harness.
I like this one.

I am not sure which model of this unit it is (there are several) but one of them you can change the color of the display to match your dash lights.
This is my dream unit stereo.

Does this help at all Pat?
