I got the EBC performance rotors and EBC greenstuff pads... not happy with them. I simple dont trust them, the perform roughly as good as stock, perhaps alittle better when wet... but on an extended downhill they faded VERY quickly, to the point where the hairs on my neck stood up a few times... and it wasnt even a bonified offroad trail, just some dirt roads on the side of a rather steep hill in a new housing development in the Atlantic Highlands.

I don't like the EBC rotors, compared to the DBA. The whole idea with these rotors is to vent the hot gases generated by the brake pad temps, hence slots and drilled hoes, dimples don't do anything to help vent the gas.

They are cheap knock offs, yes they will work but won't hold up as well as a set of DBA's would.
What are you thinking of using for pads?

Ill be doing brakes soon also...Ill be getting the r1 Concepts rotors and Akebono pads (no thread jack)
Only thing Im still deciding is the slotted/drilled vs smooth. Leaning towards slotted/drilled.

I have around 100,000 miles on my DBA rotors and they stop faster and show only a small amount of wear.

Cheap is not good, Good is not cheap. As someone said previously, however, good enough is good enough.

BTW the r1 Concept are not cheapies...there are more cheaper ones out there...I can get 15 dollar rotors from my shop.

You put in the wrong blend of rotors and pads and you will get squeal.
Saving money is not worth squealing brakes.

What combination does not squeal?

Mike likes DBA rotors and Akebono pads.

All I care about is NO SQUEAL ever.

My 2001 D2 has pad and rotors from the previous owner.
101K miles.
Squeals like a pig.

Our ex 1997 D1 was fixed finally by Marks Auto in Kirkland WA.
Not sure what rotors and pads he used - but does NOT squeal at all now.
New owner is enjoying that I bet.
