I have the Magnaflow Y Pipe. Have not had any issues with the cats at all. Had to replace mine for the exact same reason. I researched Bosal when I was looking at them. Didn't see anything wrong with the company and did not notice any bad reviews. But at the time they were not much cheaper than the Magnaflows.

You can order the Magnaflows at Oreiley's and not pay shipping but will pay sales tax. I went to the store and gave them the Magnaflow part number and they ordered it. Was here in like a day or two from their Houston Warehouse.

I didn't notice any real difference except it was a lot quieter than with the busted y-pipe. You might notice a difference if you spend another $600 for their muffler and pipes.

i recently installed both magnaflow y-pipe and cat back. y-pipe for the same reason you are replacing. the only reason i would stay away from the bosal unit is because it is not a high grade stainless. its cheap for a reason.

as far as gains.. the butt dyno says the disco picked up a little power from the whole thing. got a few mpgs as well... then immediately lost a few more when i noticed how much better the thing sounds. little drone.. but tolerable.

The clamp will work fine. Easier to install that way.

When I installed my magnaflow cats.. I faced the rings toward the cats. Flat side towards the manifolds I think. It was a while ago. No problems or anything.

I don't think it honestly matteres. If it isn't leaking leave it alone. It is basically a crush type gasket. I'm not even sure if both of mine are installed the same way... lol
