Need help!
So what were you doing when it came on, how were you driving, are your brakes squeaking alot, are you running after market brake pads or just had them replaced what sort of road surface, were you braking at the time???

I was just driving down a normal road, not bumpy or anything all of a sudden it made the dinging noise and those dash lights lit up. My brakes aren't sqeaky, they are new ray bestas pads I didn't have the rotors replaced when I did it..I wasn't braking when the lights came on.
The reason for so many question is because there are so many things that will cause the lights to trip indicating a fault.
Have your front wheels been covered with alot of brake dust? That can be one of the biggest reasons for faults, the brake pads will chatter on the rotors and the ABS sensors picks it up as a problem.
Did you have a shop putting on the brake pads or did you do it? Do you know if any sound deadening material was used on the back sides of the brake pads?
The only way to tell for sure is to have a dealer plug in their test book and read the ABS system for fault codes. It may just be a a quirk and won't happen again or you could have a problem. If you can get the dealer to read for codes and then go drive it again to see if it comes back. If it comes back of course then you'll have to make some repairs.
While the lights are on you will not have any stopping problems, many times you will find the ABS and HDC are still working.

If the ABS light is on it indicates the system is not performing up to standards. There is a fault in the system. That's why the light comes on. Get a proper diag from a competent repair facility
If the lights are on it means either there is a problem or it sensed a problem and set a code even though it was just a glitch. I have had mine turned of 3 times over 3 years with no repairs needed. If your brakes get a little hot and dusty at the same time it will throw a code, and be fine again soon as they cool down. Squeaky brakes will also throw a false code.
Have it checked and see what shows up.

Onr thing you never do with a Rover is resurface the rotors, they are too thin and the alloy is too soft. This has been a problem with all Rover models for years. Bet you can do is a high speed disc sander to cut any build up of glaze.

Thanks to all for the great input. I took it in this morning and they are going to run a diag. to see what codes come back...hopefully nothing big. My fingers are crossed!
