Default Need help in Pittsburgh

Just moved to the Burgh and in need of help finding an honest, qualified mechanic for my 2004 Discovery. Believe the parking prawl has failed. Everyone saying take it to dealer. Don’t have that kind of time or money. Any recommendations out there?

Truck drives fine but when placed in park it rolls like it were in neutral. My local LR guy has said either the cable needs to be tightened it the parking prawl has failed. Since the gear selector on the dash is reading P, leaning toward the prawl. That has been the case for 30 days or so.
Noise issue just came up and getting more clarity on that tonight. Could be a loose body part for all I know.
What I do know is he is going to need to have a reliable mechanic to work with.
Appreciate the quick response and any help you may be able to give.

@EJFrog most likely the parking pawl, I would check a transmission shop. There is nothing special about a disco transmission, but the price may still be painful

Don’t disagree…was just hoping to get set up with someone other than the dealer in Pittsburgh. Thanks.

I know the dealers out here actually take out of warranty vehicles to local indy shops... yeah, you read that right... They don't usually want to work on 18 year old trucks at dealers...

The good news in this is you can just ask them at the dealer where they would suggest you take it. They probably have a good idea.
