Default Need help pulling engine in Mar-Apr...St Louis area

I'm mechanically inclined, but not necessairly Land Rover smart yet. I can tear stuff apart with the best of them but would love it if I could get someone who's done it before to help out. Going to pull the engine, and send it out for the Top Hat Liner conversion. Here's the specifics:

Location: Scott AFB, IL (20 min East of St Louis)
Time: Right now, 1 Mar - 20 Apr 2013 is fiarly open
What: 04 Disco, Bosch Engine (no ACE if that matters)
Have garage where I can do it (Auto Hpbby Shop on base)
Happy to pay for your time

I'm ASSUMING that if I pay real close attention (take pictures/notes) to the disassembly, I'll be able to reassemble it myself. Let me know if this is a dumb idea. Reinstall would be around 3 weeks later.

Dan I am 4 hours away from you I do not know if there is anyone closer than I??? Lets see what turns up here and we can go from there. Are you referring to your garage on post and then the hobby shop if needed?

Figured I'd just do it at the hobby shop on base, from the engine pull to reinstalling it. Cost is minimal and they have a cherry picker I believe. I prefer my tools at home but I'd have to rent the cherry picker.

I got ya they have decent facilities too! Renting a cherry picker should not be very expensive and another way would be buying one from harbor freight using it and then selling it on Craigslist or on post in the classifieds. Either way is good then the hobby shop is a little bit wider and taller ceilings will be helpful too.

In case it matters, my schedule has changed and now 15-20 Feb is really all I'll have available until mid April.

Hey, I am about 45 minutes away from silver. So, I am about the same time distance away (he lives north, I live south) I have never had experience the land rovers specifically, but, I have pulled engines before. If you would like an extra hand, I am down to help. You can PM me, or text or call at 530-748-689zzz0 (remove the z's obviously).

What happened to him? I went on a trip and when I came back he was "Banned"??? Was that all over that 1 thread about customer feedback on his driveshaft?

Anyway, I'd love the help and appreciate the offer! Would have to figure out the details, but I don't think it'll happen now until April. I have more trips to business trips and just won't be able to get to it any earlier. Also, I plan on buying an engine instead of having mine rebuilt which means I'll be pulling and installing back-to-back instead of waiting 3-4 weeks inbetween. Not sure how long that will take, but I'm guessing 4-5 days. Let me know when you're available and we'll work something out.

Anytime works for me, and I am sure the same goes for him. Just give us an exact date. I know him personally, so whenever you have it for sure set, I will give him the dates and we will see what we can do!
