NEED HELP! Radio / water problem
I have a water leak that comes in through my rear view mirror on a 2001 Disco when I park facing downhill. I know, so don't park downhill nitwit!.....
After a large rain storm, I got in the car to find it pretty wet, including the dash and the radio console. The radio hasn't turned on since. The fuse isn't blown, and this has happened before, and in the past it has turned on again on it's own. Is there a reset, or is it fried?[]

RE: NEED HELP! Radio / water problem
Well it may or may not turn back on, most radios and anything with a circuit usually have ways of sensing when something is going to short out and will often times disable itself for protection. Cell phones do this when you wash them. But, sometimes the device is to late and its FRIED... depending on how wet it got... it is still possible that there is water in the radio even days after it got wet... if i were you i would pull the fuse out, to keep the radio from getting anymore power... when an electronic device does not have power and it gets wet... its fine. (which is why you can shove your computer keyboard in the dishwasher let it dry out and then plug it back in and it still works...) . If you can, take the radio out and let it dry in your house, chances are it might turn back on, after all it is a rover radio. is it? . and get that leak fixed asap (obviously lol).

Yes it is extremely loud static and popping. If you scan it goes to a station you just can't hear it. You can change from FM1 FM2 and CD changer, but still only the same noise. I just turned it off and now am driving in silence.
I know if I take it to a shop they'll just say, 'lady you need a new radio." But maybe if you guys have ideas as to what the problem is I can sound somewhat informed when I go.

"Lady, you need a new radio"
Sorry, but I think that is the case. Your is fried.
www.roverlandparts.com has good used ones, also check e-bay.
Otherwise you can go to BestBuy or Circuit City and buy a good aftermarket radio.

Forgot to mention, if you buy another LR radio you can change it yourself as long as you have the "radio removal tool" which you can buy from www.atlanticbritish.com
