We have an 01 Discovery but only have one key (the one with the unlock/lock buttons built in). I've seen key blanks for sale on ebay for $5 or so. Will these basic keys work on these vehicles or does the key have some computer chip in it that is required to start the vehicle?

A basic key (ILKO) will work just fine. Any hardware store or locksmith can cut it from your fob.
