Please describe what you mean by "... circuit board is in tatters." Can you post a pic?
If one or both of the microswitches is broken you can solder replacements onto the board. There are several threads about doing that. And if it's the shell that's in tatters, those are readily available via eBay or other online sellers.
Both buttons are long gone before I got the vehicle and neither of the micro switches work, and one of them has broken and fallen out.
I really just want a whole new one not a project where I'm trying to fix this one (I think).
I have purchased the outer shell with key blank, but if someone sells the whole thing, I'd do that.
Does it need the VIN etched in it or something?
The simplest solution, and it's "relatively" affordable, is to contact remotekey.co.uk. I've included the DII-specific link below.
I've not done business with the company, but several others on this forum have done so and reported good results. Search this forum for "remotekey" to read about the experiences of others.
Here's how it works. You order the key and they send a key and a small device that will program the BCU in your truck to recognize the new key. (Most people say we're programming the keys, but we are really programming the BCU to recognize the key.)
Once you complete setting up the new key to work with your truck, you return the programming device and the company refunds the deposit you paid for the device.
Unfortunately the company's website today says "Out of Stock" for the DII key outside the U.K. If I were you I would contact the company to ask if they will be offering the product again soon and ask about current pricing. I've seen pricing reported in other posts ranging from $100 to $160.
Yep it's like 10.00 for the Ebay kit, new case, new blade, new roll pin, and 2 new micro switches. Solder em on, pop it into the new case, and grab a new battery and call it good.
Here is my Key, the lock button works on all doors except the driver door (different problem I think!) but the "lock" button is lost somewhere.
You guys this this is repairable? Do you have a link to the repair kit?

Definitely repairable, if you can handle a soldering iron with a fine tip.
