Default Need opinion on purchase

I found an 03 or 04 disco (listed as 2000 but owner didn't know). Listed at 1500 but they will take 900. It has a jinky title situation and the owner says the ecu is bad but I suspect the motor is FUBAR. It is real nice in and out.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

As I understand I will need to find a matching year ECU, BCU, and gauge cluster. Is that right?

Looks like a 04, (roof rails, raised letter's on hood, even though they could have been replaced by previous owner at some point,)if look inside & it has locking t-case, then most likely it's 04,, if no rust underneath , then it is very well worth $900, even if engine is dead,

Looks like an 04 as the HSE logo is placed properly on the side along with the roof rails. Worth 900.00 for parts for sure.

It's an '04 (see roof rails). It's probably worth $900 for parts only (TC, TC shifter/linkage, etc.). Why are these deals always hundreds of miles from me?

Could be a decent deal if you assume that you're going to have to spend significant money to get it running. I'd probably budget another $1500 for parts, in case you need a replacement block. "Bad ECU" just means it's not running, which could really be anything from "out of gas" to "connecting rod through the block". Doing the work yourself, you could have a nice truck pretty cheaply. Paying someone else to do it, you might get lucky, or you might be looking at a $4000 bill to fix your $900 truck.

I grabbed an 03 in great shape minus the engine (still runs but she's in need of serious TLC) for 500.00. I grabbed a few parts off of it, but I may tinker with tearing into the engine.

It could a fuel pump, overheated motor (pull the dipstick n check for mocha), or yeah possibly a bad fuse block or ECU.
