Question Need Some Help..Again :)

Ok, pros. An update first. I bought a 03 w/ 57,000 miles, long story short, it had a broken timing chain, cover, from the oil pump issue I believe.

Bought all parts from RoverGuy, good price. Put it all back together.

Then no spark, tried to find out a way to bench test the Crank Position Sensor. Which was supposedly replaced at the dealer.

Finally got to hook the SnapOn scanner up to and no codes, went to do the test with the scanner and found that the crank position sensor was unplugged. What a b*&%^ to plug back in.

Now here it is, cranked and it fired up and then immediately shut off. Then cranked and cranked, the scanner stopped communicating and locked up. Let it sit for a few minutes and cranked, fired up and then immediately shut off. If you crank it back to back it will not start, if you give it a minute it will do the same thing fire right up and shut off. Literally that as quick as crank for a second, fire up for 2 maybe 3 seconds then shut off.

I did not check codes after that, had to pack up it was starting to rain and it is outside.

History: Fuel pump was replaced by a dealership, then towed to another, crank position sensor replaced, then said it needed engine.

Thanks for all and any input.

Cris

Get the scanner out again and check for a signal from the Crank sensor, let us know what it is.

Thanks for taking the time today on the phone Mike. Just to make sure I was testing things right I checked the cam sensor and got 0 reading again. Then I checked the leads I was using and one was broken. So have to fix the leads and try again tomorrow.

Additional info to all: If I turn the key off and try starting it, everytime it will run for 1 to 2 seconds and shut off. If I try to start it and do not turn the key back it will not start again. I tried spraying some carb cleaner in the throttle body and it does not make a difference. I have disconnected the battery for a minute incase something needed to be reset.

i did try the inertia switch reset, thanks mike.

Any suggestions from all''''''''''''''

Two things. I figured after fixing the lead and checking again, that I might not be using the correct connector. Which plug on the ecm do you check the crank position voltage at? The ecm is in the passenger kick panel correct?

I also checked codes, it had a p1884? I know the last two "84" is correct but the begining, I'm not sure I am remembering it right.

Thanks for the help.
