Default Need To Take My Ownership To The Next Level

OK, so I am still fighting my misfire problem. Taking the purge valve out and plugging the TB didn't make a difference.
I want a really good diagnostic tool, with the ability to program stuff, like stereo, security, key fobs, etc. Part of my problem is I do not have a good tool to work on my Landy's.
Can I get something like this for around $500 US?
I am a committed (but not insane) Discovery 2 owner.
Thanks for all your help,
Lisa

You are doing what I wish I had done years ago. I don't have one, but I would be really interested in the user interface. The iPhone looking ones look like they would be easy to use, but the Hawkeye and Nanocom get really good reviews.

I really want a Nanocom. Problem is I'm cheap. I've bought Disco's I can drive home for the price of the Nanocom. Wish I could find a used unit.

I wish I had a Nanocom too.

the AB iLand does everything but program keys. It may do that too though..

I wish GAP IIDTool covered L318 Discos.

I just got a Foxwell NT520 pro. Haven't had time to see all its capabilities yet, I'll just see what it can do as I need it but, I hooked it up and it does access all systems including ABS, BCU and transmission, etc. It can activate certain functions like the ABS pump for bleeding brakes and it says it can program a key, reset adaptive values, change a vin, etc. but I can't say if or how well it will do anything yet. I paid 210.00 direct from Foxwell b/c it came with 2 free manufacturers' software. I couldn't justify an expensive tool that only covered 1 make or model. I got the LR/Jag which covers just about every model. Haven't gotten the 2nd free mfgr. yet b/c it's Chinese new year and apparently they shut down for a week.. Each additional car company's software is 60.00 and goes on a micro sd card. They have a support request link so if you need it to do something that it can't, supposedly they'll work on a solution for you.. I'll post how well it works (or not), as I use it.

From what I see the Nanocom only offers a unit for the D2 with TD5, unless they mean it includes both that and Bosch 4.0?
At this point I don't mind spending investing $500 into my "hobby". Are you Hawkeye owners happy with it?

When working on your own Land/Range Rovers, Diagnosing Land/Range Rover problems is MUCH easier using a Hawkeye, Nanocom, or similar. As far as I know, and I have both these scanners, the only main difference between these two, is that the Nanocom will program for USED key fobs, while the Hawkeye will not. They both will program NEW key fobs. Otherwise, they both do basically the same thing.

I have owned and repaired 11 with only an Elm327 and the Delphi DS150. However I do have the advantage of a local shop that does key and ECU programming for a reasonable price, usually about $50/ a shot. Hard to justify Nanocom for that price.

If you don't need to program today, check out autozone innova 3100, cheap and good and easy to get, but no programming...

Nanocom is awesome! I was lucky and got mine used for just 150.00 however even at 500.00 it will pay for itself once you program keys, reset adaptive settings, or program your BCU/SLABS.
