Default NEEDED! discoII tranny and transfer case

Anyone have a good line on a tranny and transfer case for a "99 disco II. I found one local on craigslist from a range rover and the said it would fit any land rover with a engine size from 3.91-4.01 can a tranny fit in that size range, sounds a little to good to be true. any help out there???

You need to make sure the replacement tranny is electronical control or it won't work.
What state do you live in?

Buy from someplace that knows what their talking about. If you cant be 100% sure then go with someone you can trust.

Ya, I checked rover land parts, and they wanted like $2000 for both of them and that is just for parts, **** even theFord Dealershipsaid they could do it for $2000 out the door, I looked at carcannibal.com and they can get me the tranny and transfer case for $1250 and I can get the labor done for $500. that'll probably be the best I can get, Just let me know if anyone can do better.

I have heard that Rover Cannibal is a joke, they frequently ship the wrong parts, that is what I have heard but do not have any experiance with them.
Have you had a chance to search local salvage yards?

I'm still tryin to look locally, but here in denver disco's are everywhere so the parts don't last long. but I'm still lookin

So, make sure that you get the correct tranny, computer controled, and a T/case that has the CDL.
What happened to your original tranny?

the original just gave up on me, driving along I-25 and I just started coasting, heard a loud thump and then some grinding then nothing and the Sport(S) and Manuel(M) on the dash along with the D on the dash and the D on the shifter all started blinking. got it towed back to my house and had it towed over to a Ford dealership by my house and My brother in law is the service manager of, he had his tranny guy take a look at it and he said that something in the tranny snapped and my transfer case was cover in red fluid, said they both need to be replaced, so now I'm looking for a used tranny and transfer case. My B-in law said he would have his guys do all the work for $500.

Just make sure you get the electronically comtrolled tranny, one fro a 99 D1 or older won't work.
