Default New Brakes Squealing

Hey guys,

I just installed some EBC 3GD Rotors (Performance Dimpled And Slotted), with some Akebono pads. They are squealing like crazy. Is this a bad combo? What pads to people run with these rotors?

Thanks,

E

did you add some disc quiet to the back of the pads? brake squeal is from a vibration and some sort of coating on the back of the pads will dampen the vibration. Be sure it is rated for brakes as they can tend to get a bit warm.

I've always run OEM rotors and actual LR branded pads and they've always been silent.

Did you break in the brakes properly? Drive to like 30 stop, drive to 40 stop, get up to 55 and stop. Then drive without applying the brakes to let them cool down. And when I say stop I mean stop then release the pedal, don't go full lock up.

Akebono pads have always done that for me. I have heard great reviews, but have never experienced great results. I stick w/ OEM.

I ordered a pair of matched EBC pads. Will report back.

My EBC greens are very squeaky. They work well, but squeak a lot, mostly at lower speeds.

I went with the basic Brembo rotors and pads and never had a squeak out of them - people are sold on slots and this and that - these are basic trucks - they don't go over 100 mph - why would you spend $ on brakes for high speed vehicles or heavy trucks that tow 12,000 pounds - falling for marketing gimicks
