New Disco II Owner, First Post
Are you going to change it yourself?
I use Mobil 1, whatever you do once you pick a brand stick with it. Engines do not like it when you switch between brands all the time.
If you use full synthetic you can change it every 5,000 miles, if you use conventinal oil then you need to change it every 3,000 miles.
And because you jsut bought the truck, and most new owners do not know this, you MUST use premium gas.
And you need to get the front driveshaft rebuilt using greasable u-joints.
Dont be affraid to ask questions, everybody on here is always willing to help.

thanks. the previous owner had all the maintenance done at a dealer. I ran mobile 1in all my previous vehicles and i know about running premium gas. just wondered if the dealer used a specific brand to stay with since the engine has 80000 0n it. like you said, engines dont like change
The dealer will use whatever. They contract with local vendors, justlike the quick lubes do.
Valvoline must use Valvoline but Joes Crabshack and Autorepair will use the vender with the lowest price on oil. The dealer willbe the same way.
Go ahead and switch to whatever you are going to use and then you stick with that brand. Dont worry about the previous owner, and the dealer wont tell you what brand they use. If they use Penzoil then why would you go to the dealer when you can just go to Penzoil yourself.
Mobil1 is good oil and you can find it almost anywhere, that is one of the reasons I switched to it. I used to use Castrol Syntec but it was WAY to hard to find.

Congrats on the truck. I have same but with twice the mileage.
I love Joe's crabshack...that rocks that they do oil changes now too
Have fun with the truck. Oh by the way, it's no joke about improving your front driveshaft and making it greasable.
