New Disco Owner!!!!
I am the proud new owner of a 2001 Discovery II SE7.
I'll start by saying that I had originally passed on this deal because I felt that I had received some really good advice on these forums. This Disco is loaded with 108,000 on a perfect running engine. The only thing that this vehicle needs is a transmission and drive shaft. Non-greasable u-joints, explosion, flying metal...You all know how the story ends.
Now for the good part. This vehicle was originally listed by the seller for $3,000 and I was able to talk him down to $2,000. I brought the deal to this forum for advice and ended up passing on the deal. I couldn't stop thinking about this rig and soon found my self in negotiations for a second time with the seller. I purchased this vehicle this morning for a grand total of $1,000.
I spoke with a very wise member of this forum and he agreed that this was an absolute steal. I'm sure many of you will ask about the repairs. I have priced a transmission with warranty and I am prepared to begin this project as soon as I get the vehicle home. I am also going to replace the drive shaft with a rebuilt one and will be doing the installation myself. The transmission will be installed by a professional.
Long story short....I had a great peace about making this deal happen and I am excited and ready to get the ball rolling.
Also, the rigs name is El Chancho Verde (The Green Pig).
I would like to thank all of you for providing such constructive feedback and I would also like to thank you in advance for all of the repairs that you'll have to walk me through. lol
