Default New Disco questions...

I just purchased this 2004 Discovery from my older brother, and I still dont konw what exact model it is. I dont have all the paperwork yet so I dont have that info. It has no model number marking on the exterior anywhere. Which on could it Be? I will post picture later..

Is this engine chip "junk" or a good buy? Or is it even legal or real?

Thanks for any input..

How much do you know about Land Rovers in general?
No performance chip is going to help anything. If you install a K&N air filter you WILL be buying a new MAF.
You MUST use premium gas.
On the front fender it will say "S", "LE", "LSE"
"S" is the base model. The only other model is the XX7, which is the 7 passenger model, comes in all three trim levels, just it will say "7" after the model.
No sunroofs means you have the "S" model.

that reminds me, mine does not have letters on the side. It has leather and rear jump seats so I assume it is a SE7, but it does not have rear a/c..so is it a SD7?

When I bought my 97 last month it came with a K&N filter. What is the issue with the K&N?

I think the problem with the K&N air filter is that it's oiled, and the oil residue and dirt and crap will get into the MAF and basically kick its ***. Some one confirm?

I think DI's are ok, I ran one in my Defender with no issues. Pretty sure just the DII"S with the Bosch.

as a 04 owner and a LR fan i can tell you to not waste your cash on performance adders unless its in the braking or suspension dept.

these rigs are not meant to compete with the likes of a porsche cayanne turbo or a the big merc's. or the supercharged RR sports.

these discos are off road rigs first and foremost.
