100 miles on the pump gear set. I reused the cover, which I assume was original to the truck. Gonna pull the valve covers tomorrow and see if something is amiss with the rocker shafts.

There is a clearance spec in the rave. Mine was at the top end of that. Verify but think it is 0.005” between the gear and housing. Other possibility is you are losing pressure thru your rod and main bearings. Did you verify you didn’t have oversized bearings and replaced with standard size? That would make lots of noise and probably give you little to no oil pressure. The size will be stamped on each bearing shell. Look at the old ones.

I have standard bearings on the mains and rods.

Did you let it Idle only. Because if that’s the case you may need to hit the throttle a bit to build up pressure. That’s what worked for me.

At idle, I get about 4-6 psi. At 2000-2500 rpms the gauge reads 25 psi

Any metal filings or shavings in your oil pan with the old pump gears or any after the new gears? My pics above resulted in 1/4” of aluminum shavings in the bottom of the pan. My hot engine pressure was similar to what you state

No metal shavings that I saw. Right now I’m pinning the cylinders so everything is on the work bench. As I start to reassemble perhaps I’ll discover the cause.

Cut your oil filter in half and look for metal

So, updating this thread. After fighting off the flu, getting all the cylinders pinned, with the block in the truck (UGH!) and waiting on gaskets, I'm finally starting to put everything back together. Still no definitive answer as to why the oil pressure was so low.

Once I get the bottom of the engine back together and lowered back onto the chassis I'll pull the upper intake and check the rocker arm assemblies.

Also, Dropping the Y-pipe the bolts at the muffler broke. I'll have to replace those and I still need to ground the pig tail ground wires that I added to the front O2 sensors to see if they start reading and the truck will go into closed loop.

more to come......
