I have a 98 Disco and I was wondering what mods can be done to make it faster on the streets, if any. I don't take it offroading and I love it, but I wish it had more go. Thanks!

sell it and buy a VW beetle! Seriously though, not much you can do to make these heavy underpowered beast go fast..and why would you want to? when you're cruisin' in style you want to go slow so everybody can see ya.

You have to realize you're driving a 5000 pound truck that is powered by a 180 horsepower engine. It was designed to go everywhere and anywhere but wasn't meant to get there fast. You've got the wrong vehicle if you want speed. In fact why drive a fuel hog like a Rover if you don't take it off road? You're missing out on one of the things the Rover does best.

Absolutely nothing that you can do to make her quicker.
You can help your MPG buy making sure that you use the proper gas,(premium is REQUIRED) full synthetic motor oil and gear lube and low rolling resistance tires.
Like AK said, the DI was designed to go off road THEN they added the luxury stuff so that you would actually want to drive it to the mall.
It is a purpose built vehicle, its sole purpose in life is to go to the far ends of the earth and back, the rest was a after though.
But no, there is nothing that you can do without rebuilding the whole driveline.

I was gonna say that too. Let the newb try what he wants. Just ell him you can't get more power without shelling out some big bucks. You can refer him to places like RPI http://www.v8engines.com/engine-3.htm
or tell him that you can drop a 350 in, but have to upgade your diffs and axles and do a complete remake of your shocks and springs to support the weight.

Don't just call him a loser. That's what Discoweb is for.

Make up for the lack of speed by taking interesting shortcuts.

Thats why I drive a Disco, I dont need to take the surface streets, after all the shortest distance between points "A" and "B" is a straight line, and boy do the neighbors get pissed when I drive through their clothes line.
And no, a diving board will NOT support the weight of a Disco.
