New Fuel Pump, Engine Bucking when in Drive.
Hi All! Happy Friday!
So I replaced the fuel pump 2 days ago, everything seemed to work fine, until I started to drive up a hill going about 50km/hr. The disco II 2004 SE then began to buck and dropping RPM's then recovering. On and off mostly when trying to accelerate, and worse on hills. Here is the strange part.....In part engine runs smooth as can be, I can push the pedal down and run 4000rpm steady no sweat. Then if I put in drive, and push the pedal down it starves itself and drops RPM's. I am getting O2 sensor codes for the bank 1 front O2 sensor. Which I have an am going to replace. But that doesn't explain to me why it doesn't drive but in Park or Neutral it runs fine and smooth with no starving or anything.
Any Ideas? I have new wires, plugs, MAF, Intake gaskets. All fluids are good transmission doesn't feel like it's slipping or anything like that.
Thanks in advance! You guys are always so helpful I'm looking forward to being able to help out one day and give back to the community!

I had similar problems with my 96 D1 (202k miles)
The hesitation from stop was solved by replacing the TPS (they tend to get a wear spot at zero) and resetting adaptive values. Also cleaning the throttle plate area and passages.
My shifting problem occurred near 45 mph (~70 km/hr). It was a transmission problem, solved with a bottle of Sea Foam Trans Tune, and new fluid. That went on for years of engine troubleshooting (MAF, throttle linkage, idle air control, etc.). I finally I focused on the transmission, after consulting my mechanic. That was the problem, even though my transmission filter was renewed during initial maintenance checklist work.
Hope this is helpful.
