New guy - first Disco
Hey guys -- I just got our first Rover. I couldn't be more excited. It's the 2001 Disco II SE7. It's got just under 100k and we picked it up for $4800. The interior is pristine, minus a little sag above the passenger side on the headliner. The head gaskets were replaced at 98500 and have a 12k mile warranty. So I'm pleased with that.
I just wanted to say what a great forum this is. I've been reading up the last few days non-stop on the sagging headliner and the possibility of removing it and painting it. I've done forums like this before, mostly for slowpitch softball, but I love this one already.
Anyway, I just wanted to see if any of you had any issues with noise or anything else after removing the headliner, scraping, and then painting. I've been reading all the threads but just thought I would ask directly. Also, I've only seen a few pictures. So if any of could share your thoughts, experiences and pictures I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks again.

Mike that's a good point. It also seems like it would be noisy too. It seems like it's worth the $200-300 just get it re-done right? Except I think that when they remove the headliner I'm pretty sure they scrape the foam and glue off and just paint the actual headliner itself and then reinstall it. I don't know if that's what you were referring to?

I think it looks goofy when it's painted black, but that's my opinion. I think the paint would be OK if it were closer to the normal color.
