I had the same issue, ended up paying $250 at the dealer for a new keyfob, and then I repaired the old one with a new case and soldered the button on.

So now I have 2 keys

yep...guess I will gamble. it would be nice to have a brand new flippy key as opposed to a used old $chool (don't even have one of those at the moment....it is literally swimming with the fishies......some trout in Arkansas, to be precise)
I will do a bit more search to see if I can find a cheaper buy in

I have one remote key it works but is held together with electrical tape. I never use it to be honest as I'm afraid of it dying. I have to normal keys that I use daily. I'm not a huge fan of the switch blade key. My wife has them on her ML320 and they are a bit bulky. I would however love to be able to lock my Disco.

Door lock rod is broken haven't bothered had a chance to fix it yet

This is a dumb question question but can I get just a regular key cut to lock and unlock the doors and drive the disco, or does it have some type of factory security set up. mine only came with one and I'd like a back up for obvious reasons.

yep get spare cut. I got a few at lowes. a couple of different blanks will work fine. there are several others that have length differences, but will also work....I got ahold of some of those, but just trimmed the end down with a smooth mill bastard file and they worked fine.

same here....I rarely lock mine and I have snapped off one key in the door cylinder already.
i'd be happy with just a little fob sans key all together. heck i'd be happy with a push button ignition and no key at all.

Thanks man I hop the fob works out for you, It prefer fobs. I keep adding "minor" upgrades like this to the wish list. I want to wait until I get my engine from cannibal and see how it drives.

Talked to local dealership today, $225 for the key fob + $125 to cut and program the key fob. Ouch! I think I will be headed this direction for my key fob.
