Close, MassAirFlow sensor. The oil from the filter clings to and kills the MAF. I dont know why, just the way it is. Some have gotten away with it, MOST have not.

Makes sense
Spike: what are your annual maintenance costs roughly? I am just interested to know a figure so I know what to expect

Well, I cheat. I bought 4 cases of Mobil 1 for 40% off when the local PepBoys went out of buisness. I change my oil every 5,000 miles.

But, before that...7 quarts of M1 and a Mopar oil filter at Wal-Mart. $30-$35. I think that your '04 only takes 6 quarts. A 5 quart jug is $25, plus $4 for the extra quart and $4 for a filter.

I bought mine in April '07, drove over 20,000 miles in a year and spent $400 in un-exspected repairs. Alternator and wheel bearings. Other than oil changes I do nothing to my trk.

When I first bought it I did a tune up, trans fluid and filter, diff fluid, t-case fluid, new radiator hoses, new belt, thermostat and coolant flush and fill. I change my fuel filter once a year as well as my diff fluid. I drive through deep water every spring.
