Default new lift

I was looking I to lift kits and the OME kit really caught my eye. any suggestions on buying kits and if the OME is a good lift? I do some off roading on the weekends and was looking for some more wheel clearance to get bigger tires.

I have used both an OME 2" lift from (2008- 2014) and just installed a Terrafirma 2+ kit this past weekend. For the money the Terrafirma kit is the way to go. It is more the standard in England. I added the the TF shock turrets because they were cool. At bit of bear to install the turrets, but doable.

You are not going to be happy. Go big, OME extra heavy duty.

Do you drive the truck on roads during the week or is this strictly a weekend warrior.

Keep in mind RMT is correct. You won't be happy with an OME lift if you like the way it rides stock. It looks cool and you can fit bigger tires, yes.

However you will get a stiff ride unless you have at least two BBW's in the vehicle at all times... or the equivalent weight in accessories and gear.

I have the Medium duty 2" lift and no BBW's. My truck now bounces off the bumps in the roads rather than absorbing them. I prefer the stock setup on road.

I thought the MD setup would be a compromise but so far, not so much... Maybe so once I have steel bumpers all around, winch, a big roof rack, and a few hundred pounds of camping gear on board... Or BBW's... but none of that will be happening soon. :-)

I had OME medium duty on my old 4Runner and can attest to the bouncy feeling. Great off-road, but pavement driving was very stiff.

i would heed the warning from Dave03s, make sure why you are lifting it and what it will be used for before you decide on a kit. Nothing off road is going to ride anywhere near a stock truck

Yes I forgot to mention, I have steel front & rear bumpers, 10,000lbs winch, steel sliders, Rear Air SLS, CO2 Power tank, steel steering guard. And occasionally throw on the ARB half rack. And know how my ride should feel. Stiff is a good ride, but I was missing the control and rebound of a good shock. I would think on a 5000lbs truck like ours, both OME and TerraFirma's lifts could be well worn/dead in about 4-5 year or less depending on mileage. I did compare my OME spring height to the TerraFirma spring height. They were about dead on even. 7 year old OME's to new TerraFirma fronts, in height. Both Heavy duty.
