Congrats on the purchanse.

Buckle and unbuckle the passenger seatbelt a doze times or so, the snsor inside from lack of use will get dirty and can set off the SRS light.

The cruise control not working is common, 95% of the time it is a vacuum leak, check all the hoses starting at the brake pedal and follow it/them and look for cracks, repalce as needed.

No there is no trans dip stick, you need to check the fluid when hot, truck level, engine running trans in park and parking brake set.
There is a fill/check plup on the side of the trans, it is the top one, NOT the bottom one, that is the drain plug.
It takes Dexron III.

Congrats on the new truck. Where's the pictures? You can't just tell us you bought a Disco and ask for help without giving us some pictures to admire. I don't think it's an official forum rule but it should be.

I just got a 2000 Disco 2 and my cruise didn't work as yours doesn't

The vacuum hose that was a problem on mine was the one in easy reach in the passenger side of the engine compartment. Open the hood and look where the vacuum device is at the end of one of the throttle cables. There is a hose that goes from that to just below about a foot. Mine was broken at both ends. It is easy to pull off and examine.

Just pull that vacuum hose and bring it in to an auto supply store. Get a similar hose being sure it is not too big so it will stay on tight. Buy it 2 inches longer than stock that you brought with you so it will be able to make a more gradual curve at both ends and not break as easily again. Put the hose on in the parking lot of the store in 3 minutes and test it as you drive home.

No tools required.

Now if that is not the problem you might need to follow down other hoses.

The Cruise power is same as horn so if horn works that is ok. And the light lights so probably ok with power.
